The Journey of Julie Hegarty: From Numbers to Namaste

Julie Hegarty’s life has been a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of music, love, resilience, and transformation. Once a trained accountant in the exhilarating world of the music business, she found herself working with some of the greatest icons of our time. Music shaped her career and brought her husband into her life. Together, they raised three wonderful sons, who have now spread their wings and settled in London.

Though she enjoyed the social side of her career, Julie’s heart always beat strongest for health and wellness. Diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2011 meant changes were needed, but it was not until 2017 that she made the brave decision to step away from the world of numbers and follow her dream—to become a yoga teacher. Training under Diane Lee in Bath, she faced an early setback with her health. But Julie is nothing if not determined. She persevered, embodying her belief that if you genuinely want something, you can achieve it no matter what life throws at you.

Life, however, did not make her path easy. During her training, she endured profound personal loss, saying goodbye to both her parents. Soon after, a terrible accident left her with severe burns on her arms. Yet, with an unwavering spirit, she pushed through the pain, continuing to become a Yoga Teacher.

Fate had another twist—an opportunity to buy her husband’s family holiday home, Carrig Cnoc House, affectionately known as St. Michael’s. Nestled on its private beach with breathtaking views of the wild Donegal coast in Inishowen, Ireland, it was an opportunity she couldn’t ignore. In a heartbeat, she and her husband left their life in Bath and moved to Donegal.

Though full of history, the house was in a state of disrepair. They poured love into its restoration for nearly three years, breathing new life into its walls.

Today, St. Michael’s stands as a sanctuary of peace, complete with a stunning yoga studio overlooking the endless blue sea. Julie has created something truly special—a place where people worldwide can come to heal, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. Every morning, she hosts a short online yoga class, bringing serenity to her students no matter where they are. In-person classes fill her studio, while her newest offering, intimate yoga retreats for up to eight guests, invites visitors to experience a weekend of yoga, sea swimming, sauna sessions, nourishing homemade food, and profound peace.

Julie’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and the belief that life’s true calling will always find a way. Now, she is ready to share the beauty of her new home and her deep love for yoga with those who seek solace, renewal, and the magic of the Irish coast.
